Fred Elser First Sunday Science: Where the Forest Meets the Sea: The Importance of Connecticut’s Coastal Trees

Trees and forests play a vital role in Connecticut’s environment, improving air quality, reducing urban heat, and providing essential food and habitat for wildlife. Trees are even more important along Connecticut’s coastline, where coastal forests face increasing pressures and much of their historic range has been lost. What are the environmental consequences of this decline, and what can we do to protect and restore these critical landscapes? Join Kate Dzikiewicz, Executive Director of the Greenwich Tree Conservancy, for a lecture exploring the importance of coastal forests, the challenges they face, and what might be in store for their future. This program is free of charge. No beach pass is required if you are attending the Fred Elser First Sunday Science. Please let them know at the gate you are attending the Bruce Museum Seaside Center lecture. First Sunday Science programs take place at the Floren Family Environmental Center at Innis Arden Cottage, Greenwich Point Park, Old Greenwich, CT.
