John Lennon: Life, Legend, And Legacy
A presentation by John Paul Groom About the program The beginning of The Beatles took place at a summer garden fete at St. Peter's Church in Woolton, Liverpool, on July 6, 1957, marking a watershed point in music history. When John Lennon was 16 years old and performing with his skiffle band The Quarrymen, a common acquaintance called Ivan Vaughan, introduced him to Paul McCartney, who was 15 years old at the time. This one-of-a-kind partnership altered the course of music irrevocably, and our presenter will trace its history. About the presenter John Paul Groom gives historical presentations about the 1960s, with a particular focus on The Beatles. Originally from Liverpool, Groom resided in the same city as John Lennon and George Harrison, participated in the same Sunday school as John Lennon, and went to the same high school as Paul McCartney and George Harrison.
