Exploring Styles and Creative Practice for Strings - A Workshop with Cascadence Saturday, November 14th, 12-2pm Register for this workshop, or take this workshop and attend Cascadence at Jalopy on Thursday, 11/12 for a $10 discount! Join Cascadence (violinist Sara Caswell, guitarist Matt Davis, and bassist Chris Coyle) for an engaging workshop meant for violin/fiddle/cello/guitar/bass/other string students and teachers of all levels and backgrounds. With hands-on work and creative exchange in mind, the group will offer approachable, inspiring ideas and exercises to enhance your creativity and musical personality. The workshop will cover improvisation, composition, and practice philosophy. You'll also get the chance to deepen your perspective on many styles, particularly Jazz, American Folk/Fiddle, and Chamber music, where all elements will be connected in the context of universal strings and fingerboards. Sara, Matt, and Chris are not only accomplished artists but are passionate and dedicated educators. Their teaching mission, in part, involves empowering all students to access concepts that often seem complex or out-of-reach, and encouraging all students to expand their openness to styles and traditions. Though the workshop is a one-time experience, you can expect to leave with tangible resources via print/PDF/QR code.
