The Holiday Playhouse: Storytime with Brooklyn Author & Illustrator, Melissa Iwai Join us for a special storytime with Brooklyn-based author and illustrator Melissa Iwai! Little ones and their grown-ups are invited to enjoy an interactive reading of Melissa’s books, Soup Day and Pizza Day . About Author and Illustrator, Melissa Iwai: Melissa Iwai creates many books which celebrate multiculturalism and food, such as Soup Day, Pizza Day, A Garden for Lili, and Dumplings for Lili, which won a Crystal Kite Award and was named a Bank Street Best Book. Three books in her early reader Gigi and Ojiji series, were Junior Library Guild Gold Standard selections, and Gigi and Ojiji received a Theodor Geisel Honor in 2023. When she is not creating, she can be found cooking and doing crossword puzzles with her husband, author Denis Markell, in Brooklyn.
