Asian American and Pacific Islander (Aapi) Heritage Month Sunday Family Fun Day

Celebrate AAPI Heritage Month at The New York Historical! Join us for a day of programs focused on Asian American history and culture. With story time, AAPI coloring pages, a book giveaway, an interactive game to celebrate the Year of the Horse, Balikbayan boxes, Filipino dancing, and more there will be plenty to see and do all day long. 11:30–12:30 pm Sunday Story Time: Journey to the Stars (Lower Level) 12–2 pm Crafts and dancing in the DiMenna Children’s History Museum  (Lower Level) 12–2 pm Partner Organization activities: Make Us Visible Coloring Pages and Book Give-away (First Floor) FANHS Balikbayan Boxes (First Floor) Planet Han Year of the Horse Game (Lower Level) All Day AAPI Family Guides available for pick up About Our Partners Make Us Visible Founded in January 2021 by two parents, a student, and a teacher, Make Us Visible seeks to empower local communities to become more civically engaged and politically active through advocacy ensuring the inclusion of Asian American history in K-12 curriculums. They see this work as a long-term preventative measure against future anti-Asian American bullying and violence. As a 100% volunteer-driven coalition, they have successfully contributed to establishing 8 laws across 6 states over the last two years, with 25 active state chapters. Planet Han Planet Han teaches children Mandarin Chinese at both their Upper West Side and Upper East Side location regardless of ethnicity since 2010. Planet Han is full of energy and creativity. They offer Mandarin classes during and after school for preschool and ongoing school age children. Filipino American National Historical Society FANHS Metro NY Chapter is dedicated to promoting understanding, education, enlightenment, appreciation, and enrichment through the identification, gathering, preservation, and dissemination of the history and culture of Filipino Americans in the US.
