Program information: Rhyuhn (Student), Composer and Piano Rhianna Adesuwa Ilube (Student), Playwright Caili Quan (Arnhold Creative Associate), Choreographer Jamar Roberts (Arnhold Creative Associate at Large and Distinguished Visiting Faculty), Choreographer Pam Tanowitz (Arnhold Creative Associate), Choreographer Junqi Wan (Student), Composer and Guzheng Juilliard musicians, dancers, and actors The New and the Now series at Carnegie’s Zankel Hall is a one-time chance to experience creative artistry as it unfolds in real time. Artists develop and refine their work until the moment they take the stage. No two performances are alike. And that’s part of the magic. This performance draws from Juilliard’s expansive range, with music by groundbreaking alumni Miles Davis, Philip Glass, and Steve Reich; new choreography from Jamar Roberts*, Caili Quan^, and a world premiere by Pam Tanowitz^, set to Luciano Berio’s Sequenza V for solo trombone; a Curtis Stewart violin duo inspired by Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off”; an excerpt from a new play by Juilliard drama student Rhianna Adesuwa Ilube; and two world premieres by Juilliard composition students Rhyuhn and Junqi Wan. “Creating with someone who’s not within your field makes for such great art. Creation between people who speak different languages but are trying to get to the same place or find similar ground is where the magic happens.” —Caili Quan Learn about how Arnhold Creative Associates work with Juilliard students here. *Arnhold Creative Associate at Large and Distinguished Visiting Faculty ^Arnhold Creative Associate Juilliard's Creative Enterprise programming, including the Creative Associates program, is generously supported by Jody and John Arnhold and the Arnhold Foundation.
