Little New-Yorkers: a True Princess of Hawai’I

Happy Women’s History Month! In 1881 Princess Luka of Hawai’i came to the town of Hila to stop the flow of lava from the Mauna Loa volcano. In today’s story, A True Princess of Hawai’i written by Beth Greenway and illustrated by Tammy Lee, we’ll learn about Princess Luka’s visit through the eyes of a girl named Nani and her neighbor Keoki. Will the princess and the children be able to calm Pele the volcano goddess? After the story, make your own volcano craft! Join us every Tuesday and Friday at the Museum for story time and crafts! Each class includes a special hello song, silly dances and games, a story book reading, and a craft to do after the story.
