Little New-Yorkers: Pies From Nowhere: How Georgia Gilmore Sustained the Montgomery Bus Boycott
Happy Women’s History Month! In 1955, black residents of Montgomery, Alabama began a bus boycott to fight for fair treatment. Georgia Gilmore wanted to help. In Pies from Nowhere, written by Dee Romito and illustrated by Laura Freeman, we’ll hear the story of Georgia and the women of the Club from Nowhere whose baking helped to support this crucial moment in the Civil Rights Movement. After the story, make your own pie craft inspired by Georgia Gilmore! Join us every Tuesday and Friday at the Museum for story time and crafts! Each class includes a special hello song, silly dances and games, a story book reading, and a craft to do after the story.
