Little New-Yorkers: When You Look Out the Window: How Phyllis Lyon and Del Martin Built a Community

Happy Pride Month! When Phyllis and Del look at the window of their San Francisco home, they see “a big rainbow community!” In today’s sweet rhyming story When You Look Out the Window, written by Gayle E. Pitman and illustrated by Christopher Lyles, we’ll learn how Phyllis and Del transformed their neighborhood into a place of love and acceptance. They wanted to create a place where women, the LGBTQ+ community, and all people, could be respected and be themselves. After the story, create your own window that looks out onto the world you dream of living in!   Join us every Tuesday and Friday at the Museum for story time and crafts! Each class includes a special hello song, silly dances and games, a story book reading, and a craft to do after the story.
