Summer at the Library: R.E.A.D. to Matilda the Therapy Dog!

This event will take place at Muhlenberg Library. Dogs can’t read but they can be great listeners! Enjoy individual, no-pressure reading time with Matilda, a licensed therapy dog. Registration will open 1 hour before the start time and will remain open until all slots are filled. In-person registration only. For a safe and enjoyable session, please read and follow these rules: Children can sign up to read approximately 10-15 minutes each during the R.E.A.D. session. One child per session. Please check in at the children's desk 5 minutes prior to your session time. Your session may be lost if you are not on time! Sessions are 15 minutes each, starting at the the scheduled slot time. This program is for children ages 5-12 who can read independently only. Children must be able to read to Matilda on their own. Caregivers, family members, and siblings cannot be in the room while reading is in session. They are welcome to watch from outside the room! Reading Education Assistance Dogs® R.E.A.D. ® is the 1st and foremost comprehensive reading to therapy dogs support program helping to improve children’s literacy and social skills through the assistance of trained, registered and insured therapy dog teams as literacy mentors. R.E.A.D. is a program of Intermountain Therapy Animals of Salt Lake City, Utah.
