Pathfinders Fall Family Fun Day
Family-friendly event in Chicago, Illinois.
Pathfinders Fall Family Fun Day is an arts and storytelling celebration for rainbow families, chosen families, families of origin, and all those in between to enjoy various programs offered by Black and queer organizations from around the city. Designed and hosted by CPL Renaissance Project Scholar, Amari Amai, this event will feature an art therapy experience facilitated by Black Alphabet, a storytelling workshop provided by About Face Theater, and free copies of Roy Kinsey's wonderful children's book "Deangelo and the Dandelion". The day will end with opening performances by youth poets from the West Side and an immersive storytelling experience by Amari Amai, sharing his research in the archives on Black LGBTQ+ life on the West Side of Chicago. The event is inspired by Brenetta Howell Barrett's nonprofit organization "Harriet Tubman Place PathFinders" that provided vital resources to Black LGBTQ+ youth and residents of the Austin community during the late 90s-early 2000s.
